Caernarfon is 70 feet long, built by Marque Narrowboats and was fitted out to a high specification by Stephen Goldsbrough in 1995. Her original purpose was as a hotel boat butty, touring our unique canal system paired with her motorboat and has provided a delightful floating experience to hundreds of people. After being used as a hotel boat, she was separated from her motorboat and the rudder (elum) was modified to accept a hydraulic motor and propellor to provide Caernarfon with her own motive power which is ingeniously provided by the addition of a hydraulic pump to the Onan generator located in the rear cabin of the boat. From entering at the front (or through one of the large side doors) you enter the saloon which is fitted with a fixed bench and solid fuel stove - there is ample room to add loose furniture. A corridor leads down the port side of the boat and on the starboard side are the “rooms”. First comes the fully fitted galley with full stainless-steel worktops and full-sized appliances. Next is the utility room with full sized automatic washing machine, wash hand basin and Porta Potti toilet. Further on is the dinette area with solid wood drop leaf table. A single, self-contained bedroom follows with its own shower compartment. Finally, you enter the master bedroom with a double bed across the boat fitted with en suite shower and macerator toilet. Storage was a real necessity during her early life as a hotel boat and everywhere you look there is ample storage – even under the saloon floor! The separate rear cabin houses the electrical systems, generator and Webasto heating system. Caernarfon has been regularly maintained and her systems upgraded as and when necessary. She is ready for her new owners to move aboard and use her as a floating home or as a holiday retreat. Caernarfon must be viewed to appreciate the time that was spent in her design.
