China Blue is a nice simple little boat, just 44ft long with a traditional stern. It was built 20 years ago by Hallmark Boats and has recently been undergoing a bit of a refit inside – and there is still work to be done. From the stern deck you step down directly into the engine room, currently without deck boarding, where the Perkins diesel engine has clearly been cared for. This leads into the rear bedroom with a fixed double bed and wardrobes, as well as plenty of storage space. It’s a short corridor that takes you to the shower and pump out toilet compartment, with a good amount of space. Beyond is the galley with cooker and fridge as well as the necessary sink and working surfaces. The large lounge area beyond has plenty of space for furniture and a bed settee would comfortably widen you options. There is the carcase of a multi fuel stove but this boat is essentially a project that hasn’t quite been completed, so there is still work to be done in putting the jigsaw together. If you have the skills or you are happy to employ people who do, this little boat could well be a bargain – and a cheap way of getting onto the canals.
